The Hot Form Quench (HFQ®) process from Impression Technologies Limited (ITL) is a proven method for hot viscoplastic forming of ultra-high strength aluminium (UHSAL) alloys including 2x, 6x and 7x series, with parts in serial production for automotive applications since 2016.

In addition, HFQ® application programmes are well underway to apply the technology to aerospace structures. HFQ® provides many benefits to OEMs, including reduction in weight, part integration, elimination of spring-back issues, and attendance cost savings versus conventional forming methods.

This second of three HFQ® webinars to showcase the opportunities of HFQ® Technology will provide an overview of the progress to date on this collaborative recycled alloy programme, the opportunities for OEMs to reduce carbon content of aluminium structures, and collaboration pathways towards the application of low carbon content and environmental impact parts onto electric cars, or even aircraft seat structures.

Presenters:

Dr Richard Hunt, Head of Metallurgy and Materials Evaluation Centre – Impression Technologies

Adrian Tautscher, Principal Technical Specialist, Recycling & Sustainability – Impression Technologies

Pawel Rutecki, Development and Investment Director – Gränges
